Հայկ-Օրդյան_2-300x168“Ordfilm” Film Production Company has a new film project. It is going to shoot a film about the good and bad days of Armenia which is on the way to independence. Still 15 years ago the director Hayk Ordyan wrote the scriptwriting, hoping that one day he will manage to show the film to the audience. However, as the film is a full-length feature one, there is a need of a big budget: until now it has been impossible to shoot it.

In 2016 it’s going to be the 25th anniversary of the independence of Armenia. I want so much this film to be shown on that occasion, because it is simply about us, about the path our country was to pass through. Every Armenian will see himself on the screen, will evaluate his past in retrospect, will evaluate the dearest and the most cherished wishes the realization of which cost lots of lives and discovered our human and civic characters. This film makes us understand the price of the independence through 25 years,” Hayk Ordyan tells about his new film project.

The film will comprise in it the characteristic of our independence-gaining nation by the help of two teenage boys. A whole nation, having become one body and one soul, lives with the same life, the same pain and the same happiness. You will often see symbolic episodes, which will make the story of the film more emotional, as well as will lead it to ideological generalizations. Hope, emotion, optimism, expectations: Our nation, which has chosen the path of independence, has lived and carried indescribable difficulties, but its hopes are half on the way, still not fully realized.

“I have given the sinopsis of the film to people of different gender, age and profession, to read. Everyone told the same thing, “This film seems to be about me, it seems to be my story”. This was my aim, to screen everybody’s emotions, and even in case the viewer is not an Armenian, he should still understand what we have felt and lived”, says Hayk Ordyan.

Even the title of the film is symbolic, “Ribbons in the city”.

The teenage boys and their friends appear in different situations and conditions of life, also see the war. They are always present at the funerals of the freedom fighters, who were brought home from the battlefield. Every time walking on along with the procession of the funeral they tie black ribbons on their heads, stand on the pavements and rise up their fists. The brothers don’t even imagine that one day they will tie the last ribbon during their father’s funeral. The outcome of the story is that at the end of the film all the ribbons fall down of the roofs at once, announcing the end of the war. The combination and the contrast of black and white images and feelings will make the message of the film more vivid.

The casting has already started and now is going on. The search of the two main characters, the teenage boys, is still continuing. The search of partners in Armenia is also going on. There is a partner from abroad, which has undertaken to finance part of it. However we also need support from Armenia: all in all, the film is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the independence of our country. The term of the foreign partner is to show the film in foreign cinemas. Our terms will be clear when the film has an Armenian partner.
